Jasper National Park Fires; August 12th Update
The more images and footage being released from the Jasper town site, the more heartbreaking this catastrophe gets. While our entire company has been deeply impacted by this event, there is a hyper-awareness among our staff that this is what we are here for; we exist so that people and businesses can get back on their feet after suffering a loss like this.
Today we have good news. Jasper residents have been given the green light to re-enter the town as of this Friday, August 16th. While the situation remains fluid and this date could change, we hope that this means we can officially get a clear understanding of the full extent of the damage and the steps ahead for each of our insureds. The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) will be opening a Welcome Centre in the community and Peace Hills will have a station set up there to best serve our customers on the ground. We will be there with you every step of the way as we work to assess your loss and begin your journey to recovery.
Most of our insureds have already begun the claims process, but if you haven’t yet done so, please get in touch. Our claims team can be reached at 1-800-272-5614 or by emailing newclaims@phgic.com.
To those whose homes are a total loss or are deemed uninhabitable, please continue to communicate closely with your Adjuster and the experts who have been hired to assist with these claims. Your Adjuster will help you find temporary living arrangements while repairs/rebuild is happening, and then you can begin to focus on completing contents schedules and gathering information for cost consultants. For those with a partial loss, our Adjusters on the ground this weekend will start assessments.
While you wait for the planned re-entry on Friday, here are some additional resources we encourage you to explore:
