Vehicle Donation Program with NAIT
Earlier this year Peace Hills began participating in a vehicle donation program with NAIT (the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). The Auto Body Technician program trains students how to repair motor vehicle structures and body components. Those enrolled in apprenticeship training engage in prepping, refinishing, sheet metal repairĀ and frame straightening.
Once an auto claim is settled, if the vehicle is deemed a write-off, Peace Hills donates it to the Auto Body program to aid in the students' education. Having hands-on experience and the ability to work with vehicles damaged in real-life situations is vital to the program and individual students' growth. It ensures that the training students receive will continue to be relevant with the rapid changes to technologies used in vehicles today.
"It is important that apprentices are exposed to the types of vehicles they will find in the workplace," said Rob Hazekamp, 4th year Lead Instructor.
Bryce Nelson, Program Chair of the Auto Body Technician Program, continued to note that "the donation of [vehicles] will help facilitate training, and it's through partnerships like these we are able to provide the best possible learning experience for our students and the industry."
Peace Hills now has a sign displayed in NAIT's auto body shop to showcase our proud support of this program, and we look forward to participating in it for years to come.
