Our New Vision, Mission and Values

Peace Hills Insurance, a company proudly owned by Samson Cree Nation, is excited to announce the launch of our reimagined Vision, Mission and Values statements. These guiding principles reflect our commitment to our policyholders, our brokers, our communities and our shareholder, the Samson Cree Nation. They are a testament to our dedication to continuous growth and innovation within the insurance industry.

Our Vision:

Through Wahkôtowin, we are a respected national insurer that provides creative and responsive solutions.

This new vision represents the future we aspire to. It is a reflection of our long-term goals and the impact we aim to have within the communities we serve. We have led our vision using the Cree word, Wahkôtowin. This is a word that Peace Hills Insurance is committing to thoroughly integrate into our every day corporate language.

Wahkôtowin refers to the concept of “kinship” and emphasizes the importance of interconnectedness, community and relationships, drawing from Indigenous cultural principles. Using a Cree word in our vision statement reflects our Indigenous ownership and gives us the opportunity to explain the importance of relationships in how we do business. It points to building strong, collaborative relationships with employees, brokers, and other business partners, and how these relationships have importance when viewed through the lens of connectivity.

At Peace Hills, this is what we do differently. It is through Wahkôtowin that we have been, and will continue to be, successful and respected in the industry.

Our Mission:

We are a unique insurance company that truly cares.

If this mission statement sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Our mission is unchanged, as we have found that despite all the growth and change at Peace Hills Insurance over the years, this statement continues to outline our daily purpose and approach we take to deliver exceptional service and insurance solutions.

Our corporate culture, along with being owned by a First Nation, are what makes us unique, and we pride ourselves in truly caring about people, listening to our brokers, and valuing a personal touch in our business dealings. This is demonstrated in our excellent service delivery and how we treat one another, both within and outside the company. This mission statement is the absolute core of who we are and how we stand out in the marketplace.

Our Core Values:

Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Responsiveness, Dedication, Innovation and Flexibility.

Our values are the foundation of everything we do. They shape our company culture, guide our decision-making, and ensure that we remain true to our vision and mission statements. These values reflect our dedication to the strong community ties that have always defined Peace Hills Insurance.

Respect: Valuing the qualities, skills, and unique attributes of the people we work with, and where integrity, collaboration, professionalism and trust are the norm.

Accountability: Owning the results of our work and accepting responsibility for the outcomes of our actions, attitudes, performance, and decisions.

Compassion: Leading with empathy and showing genuine concern and caring for others especially in times of need or misfortune.

Responsiveness: Acting quickly, positively, appropriately, and efficiently to help those seeking assistance or input.

Dedication: Demonstrating consistent and reliable commitment to carrying out our responsibilities.

Innovation: Exploring new ideas to solve existing problems and having a willingness to think outside the box.

Flexibility: Adjusting or adapting to circumstances as they arise and seeking creative solutions.

As we embrace these statements, we remain focused on what has always been most important to us: serving our customers and broker partners with excellence, supporting our communities, and fostering a workplace where every team member can thrive. We are excited to move forward with these guiding principles, confident that they will help us navigate the future with purpose and clarity.
