Supporting Community Growth with Our Hometown Turnaround Campaign

Since 2022, Peace Hills Insurance has had the privilege of supporting community initiatives that strengthen local connection, enhance shared spaces, and improve quality of life across Western Canada through our #HometownTurnaround campaign. This campaign provides financial support to projects that meet local needs in rural and regional communities.

2025 was our biggest year yet, and we’re proud to highlight 15 meaningful projects that reflect the heart of community spirit in the areas where we do business: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories. From recreational expansions to essential facility upgrades, here’s a look at what we’re building together.

1. Oyama Community Club Sign Project (BC)
Over the past several years, the Oyama Community Club (OCC) has been renovating its building to improve both function and appearance. As part of these upgrades, the organization is replacing its 40-year-old wooden sign and refreshing its illuminated signage. This project was brought to us by our partners at Acera Insurance, who connected us with the opportunity to help fund materials that support these important enhancements. Peace Hills Insurance is proud to support this meaningful community improvement.

2. Salmon Arm Fairground Grandstand Improvements (BC)
The Salmon Arm Fairgrounds host numerous community events throughout the year, including the Roots & Blues Festival, the Demolition Derby, the Salmon Arm Fall Fair, and multiple agricultural and 4H activities. To ensure the safety and longevity of the space, the grandstands require structural upgrades such as new railings and improved foundations. With the support of our partners at Acera Insurance, we’re pleased to help make these improvements possible for future visitors and event participants.

3. Prince George Humane Society (BC)
The Prince George Humane Society supports not only animals, but also the people who care for them. Programs like Keeping Pets and People Together assist pet owners facing personal challenges, helping reduce surrenders and strengthen the human–animal bond. When Wilson M Beck shared this project with us, we were happy to provide funding that helps the organization continue its compassionate, community-focused work.

4. Lets’emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre (BC)
While this project represents a larger long-term vision, we’re honoured to contribute to the development of an inclusive regional recreation hub. Opening in fall 2026, the Lets’emot Regional Recreation & Aquatic Centre will offer year-round access to leisure pools, lap lanes, water features, a hot tub, sauna, and more. We appreciate HUB for bringing this project forward and involving us in a facility that will expand access to aquatic programming for families, athletes, and residents across the region.

5. Whitecourt Taekwondo Equipment & Programming (AB)
The opportunity was shared with us by BrokerLink Whitecourt, highlighting the impactful work of Whitecourt Taekwondo — an organization that empowers youth and adults through accessible, high-quality self-defence training. Hometown Turnaround funding will support the purchase of essential safety equipment, helping ensure a safe and inclusive training environment for all participants.

6. Grand Centre Golf & Country Club Clubhouse Expansion (AB)
The Grand Centre Golf & Country Club is expanding its clubhouse to include a dedicated tournament-hosting area, complete with a separate bar space within the banquet area. We thank Lake City Insurance for bringing this project to our attention and are pleased to support an upgrade that will enhance community gatherings, events, and regional tourism.

7. Bandage Paws Animal Rescue - Pet Palace Renovation (AB)
Bandage Paws Animal Rescue provides a compassionate environment where animals can socialize and connect with potential adopters. Their well-loved “Pet Palace” playroom is due for renewal as its rubberized wall coating has begun to deteriorate. When BrokerLink Grande Prairie shared this project with us, we knew it was an opportunity worth supporting. Funding will help complete a full renovation, ensuring a safe and sanitary space for animals and volunteers alike.

8. AK Academy New Soccer Turf (MB)
With rapid program growth in recent years, AK Academy is upgrading its facility at the Skylight Complex in East St. Paul with brand-new dual-purpose turf. This project was brought to us by our partners at Exclusive Insurance Solutions Inc., and the new surface will create a vibrant, multi-use recreation space that promotes youth development and community wellness.

9. Louise Aquatic Centre Equipment (MB)
Set to open this summer, the new Louise Aquatic Centre will be an incredible resource for Pilot Mound and surrounding communities. We thank Keystone Insurance for connecting us with this project. Funding is supporting essential equipment purchases, including pool vacuums and competitive swim lane systems, helping residents of all ages enjoy active, healthy lifestyles.

10. Souris Community Garden Fencing (MB)
After experiencing significant deer damage to its crops, the Souris Community Garden is installing protective fencing to safeguard produce grown for the community and local food bank. This project was brought forward by our partners at Western Financial Group, and our support will help volunteers continue providing fresh, organic food to residents in need.

11. St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation MRI Machine (SK)
The St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation is raising funds to purchase and install a new MRI machine at the Estevan Hospital. With this opportunity shared by Western Financial Group, Peace Hills Insurance is proud to support an investment that will improve access to faster, more accurate diagnostic services for patients across the region.

12. “Space to Splash, Room to Relax!” - Boissevain-Morton Aquatic Centre (MB)
Now entering its second swim season, the Boissevain-Morton Aquatic Centre has quickly become a valued community hub. This project was brought to us by our partners at Westland Insurance Group. Funding from Hometown Turnaround will support the addition of commercial-grade loungers and accessible picnic tables. These additions will help the facility better accommodate growing visitor numbers and patrons with mobility needs.

13. Tilley School Library Books (AB)
Tilley School is working to expand both its main library and classroom collections. We thank our partners at BrokerLink for sharing this project. Hometown Turnaround funding will help purchase new books that inspire learning, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading among students.

14. Medicine Hat Mavericks Patio Improvement (AB)
The Medicine Hat Mavericks of the Western Canadian Baseball League are enhancing their community patio space — an area frequently rented or donated to sports teams, charities, and local groups. This project was introduced to us by Reliance Insurance Agencies and includes the installation of a converted Seacan structure for sheltered seating and service, along with refinishing the patio surface. The goal is to create a welcoming, functional gathering space for fans and community members in the coming season.

15. La Salle Arena
Since 2024, The Caisse Community Centre has been working toward the development of a new arena for the growing community of La Salle. Designed to be a central gathering place, the arena will support recreational programming, local sports, community events, and year-round opportunities for residents of all ages. The project was brought to us by our partners at La Salle Insurance, and Peace Hills is proud to support the development of an arena that will serve the community for years to come.

What This Means for Communities Across Western Canada

Whether it’s creating new places to gather, helping young athletes thrive, supporting animal welfare, or expanding access to recreation for all ages, these initiatives strengthen the communities we call home.

We’re honoured to play a small part in the big things being built by local volunteers, leaders, and organizations. Thank you to everyone who makes community growth possible. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
