Auto Claims Manager

We currently have a full-time position available for an additional Claims Manager in our Edmonton Claims department. Reporting to the Director, Claims, the successful individual will provide leadership and guidance to Claims Advisors within the Auto Claims Department, while cultivating and maintaining relationships with brokers and third-party service providers. The Claims Manager shares responsibility in setting and supporting the strategic goals of the Claims Department.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide strong leadership and management to the Auto PD Claims Department;
  • Create an environment of continued learning, supportive relationships and effective communication;  
  • Mentor and coach staff to assist them in reaching high performance; providing training and goal setting;
  • Ensure claims practices follow organizational standards, contractual obligations and relevant regulations;
  • Maintain service level standards and address any issues as they arise;
  • Ensure that vendors associated with PHI are held to a high standard and that their business practices are aligned with organizational standards;
  • Communicate with senior management on relevant issues such as CAT losses, large losses and reserve changes;
  • Ensure the team’s proper and timely handling of files in accordance with corporate policies and procedures and through measurement of service standards;
  • Develop and maintain departmental KPIs, ensuring adherence to the Company’s values and philosophies;
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and staff;
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders including brokers, independent adjusters, underwriters and Peace Hills’ employees and management group;
  • Oversee and provide guidance on large losses;
  • Evaluate and measure the effectiveness and compliance of claims file handling by supporting and participating in internal audit.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with minimum 5 years at a leadership level;
  • Experience developing and delivering robust training solutions;
  • Advanced knowledge of policy wordings and relevant legislation;
  • Expertise specifically in personal and commercial-lines property claims;
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience;
  • CIP or FCIP designation;
  • Innovative, forward thinker able to manage multiple priorities;
  • Proven leadership skills;
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver messages with tact and diplomacy;
  • Ability to present material and communicate in front of groups;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and confidence in decision making;
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships;
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
