Claims Coordinator - Accident Benefits (Calgary)

We currently have a permanent full-time opening available for a Claims Coordinator – Accident Benefits in our Calgary Claims Department. This role provides support to the administration of automobile injury benefits in accordance with provincially legislated guidelines and company policies and procedures. More specifically, the responsibilities would include the following:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Support the accident benefits claims function through the timely and accurate completion of all tasks and activities as delegated by claims advisors and management;
  • Review and pay approved treatment invoices;
  • Prepare and send document packages;
  • Prepare and send standard claims letters and forms;
  • Inbound and Outbound Calls;
  • Arrange and set up IME's, IDE's and FCE's appointments;
  • Order medical records and prepare them for review;
  • File and track closed claim files for storage;
  • Sorting daily mail, within claims, for distribution;
  • Completion of open activities using an abeyance system;
  • Documenting accident benefits files with relevant notes and attachments;
  • Attending internal and external meetings and seminars;
  • Back-up and relief support for claims coordinators;
  • Various other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Detail oriented with an ability to meet deadlines;
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills (both oral and written);
  • Ability to prioritize and respond promptly to requests with an emphasis on customer service;
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree and/or working towards a CIP/FCIP designation would be considered an asset;
  • A background or knowledge of insurance and 1+ year experience in a similar role would be an asset.
