Senior Actuarial Analyst/Assistant Actuary
We currently have an opening for a Senior Actuarial Analyst/Assistant Actuary to join our Actuarial
Solutions Team. The job title will depend on the candidate’s experience and will be based out of our
Edmonton location. This role assists in the pricing of our products and analysis of strategic initiatives
using predictive analytics and comparative research of market prices and trends. This is an excellent role

enjoys an exceptional work-life balance. More specifically, the responsibilities would include the
following:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Director of Actuarial to implement the new care model for Alberta
- Perform actuarial analysis of insurance rates, rating procedures and rating plans for personal
and commercial business lines (property, auto and casualty) - Develop effective rating systems
- Provide actuarial support for required rate filings
- Liaise with Information Technology department on development and maintenance of our
underwriting system as it relates to pricing and reinsurance - Prepare insurance forecasting models
- Drive the compilation and analysis of data required for our reinsurance program
- Price appropriate products in conjunction with the internal stakeholders
- Compile data for the Executive Management team
- Keep management informed of relevant industry developments
- Provide support for and serve on special committees as initiated by the company
- Present model results to management in understandable and actionable ways
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree
- ACAS/FCAS designation a benefit
- 6-10 years of property and casualty experience
- Expertise in no-fault insurance rating is a must
- Machine learning experience a plus
- Technical savviness and the ability to use Excel, SQL, R and VBA at an advanced level
- Experience with mapping software such as QGIS is a plus but not required
- Ability to problem solve effectively, relying on quantitative and analytical skills to make data driven
decisions - Able to manage competing/conflicting priorities while completing assignments successfully
- Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to non-technical
audiences - Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of cross functional teams
- Occasional travel within Canada may be required
