Senior Actuarial Analyst
We currently have a full time position available for a Senior Actuarial Analyst in our Actuarial Solutions Department. Reporting to the Actuarial Director, this is a hybrid position based in one of our Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver offices, with fully remote work considered for the right candidate.
In this role, you will support product pricing and contribute to the evaluation of strategic initiatives through predictive analytics, market pricing insights, and research into industry trends. What You'll Do:
- Perform actuarial analysis of insurance rates, rating procedures and rating plans for personal and commercial business lines (property, auto, and casualty);
- Develop effective rating systems;
- Provide actuarial support for required rate filings;
- Liaise with the Information Technology department on development and maintenance of our underwriting system as it relates to pricing and reinsurance;
- Prepare insurance forecasting models;
- Drive the compilation and analysis of data required for our reinsurance program;
- Price appropriate products in conjunction with the internal stakeholders;
- Compile data for the Executive Management team;
- Keep management informed of relevant industry developments;
- Provide support for and serve on special committees as initiated by the company;
- Present model results to management in understandable and actionable ways.
What You'll Bring:
- Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or other relevant quantitative fields (Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) required;
- 2+ CAS exams passed;
- 4+ years of property and casualty actuarial experience;
- Demonstrated experience in commercial lines pricing;
- Technical savviness and the ability to use Excel, SQL, and R at an advanced level;
- Ability to solve problems effectively, relying on quantitative and analytical skills to make data driven decisions;
- Able to manage competing/conflicting priorities while completing assignments successfully;
- Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills;
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to non-technical audiences;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of cross functional teams;
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within Canada;
- Guidewire experience would be considered an asset;
- The ability to work from the Edmonton office would be considered an asset;
- ACAS/FCAS designation would be considered an asset;
- Radar and/or Machine learning experience would be considered an asset
- All other duties as required.

- Competitive base pay with annual bonus eligibility;
- In respect to BC's Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000
