Senior Human Resources Advisor

We currently have a position available for an additional Senior Human Resources Advisor in our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources and Administration, the Senior Human Resources Advisor provides full employee lifecycle support to management and employees including employee relations, employee development, recruitment and selection, organizational effectiveness, coaching, performance management and employee health and well-being. This includes playing a lead role in the design, delivery, and monitoring of people management programs throughout the organization with a focus on continually improving the services delivered by the HR function.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide a wide variety of HR services to management and staff including performance management, disability management, compensation and benefits, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, employee health & wellness and workforce planning.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on application of existing HR programs, policies, practices, systems, and services for a designated business portfolio.
  • Coach leaders and provide employee relations guidance and support including career development, performance management, reward and recognition and progressive corrective action.
  • Develop and update job descriptions and lead the full cycle recruitment process for assigned roles. This includes evaluating candidates, conducting reference checks, preparing offer packages, completing background checks, and tracking applicants.
  • Support the design, development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of HR programs. This includes leading some or all aspects of program development and change as assigned.
  • Influence the design and continuous improvement of HR programs by contributing a deep understanding of client needs and priorities.
  • Counsel and advise leaders regarding workforce planning, employee development, and career progression/succession planning. This involves partnering with the business to support the development of engaged high-performing teams.
  • Coach and provide guidance to other HR staff.
  • Support the VP, Human Resources and Administration with HR projects and initiatives. 

 

What You'll Bring:

  • A degree in Human Resources or related post-secondary education
  • Certified Human Resources Professional or working towards designation (CPHR)
  • Minimum of 8 years related Human Resources experience
  • Knowledge of Human Resources best practices
  • Strong computer skills
  • Broad and current knowledge of Human Resource legislation and regulations, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health & Safety, and other relevant legislation
  • Sound judgment in dealing effectively with employees
  • Patience and able to work with varying personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively manage sensitive and highly confidential employee information
  • Sound time management, problem solving and organizational skills
